Wensleydale Coach Trip Itinerary

Day One :

Coach travel to Teesside

Board the coach at your pick-up point early in the morning and relax as we head to the Teesside area. We'll stop en route for the chance to have lunch, then continue to our hotel, arriving in good time to unpack and relax before dinner is served.

Day Two :

Included Esk Valley Railway journey

This morning we board the Esk Valley Railway in Middlesbrough for the 35-mile train ride through some of Yorkshire's most spectacular scenery, to Whitby. There are 16 stations along the valley including Lealholm, the village described in the Sunday Times as "the prettiest village in Yorkshire".

You'll arrive in Whitby in time for lunch (the town's Quayside restaurant won UK Fish and Chip Shop of the Year in 2014), and have the afternoon free to explore. Stroll through bustling lanes to the harbourside, visit the Captain Cook Memorial Museum or simply enjoy the views. If you're feeling energetic, why not climb the 199 steps to the abbey ruins of St Mary's Church, which is said to have inspired Bram Stoker to write 'Dracula'?

We'll return to the hotel in good time for dinner.

Day Three :

Included Wensleydale tour

Today's highlight is our 17-mile ride on the Wensleydale Heritage Railway. We'll travel through beautiful scenery from Leeming Bar to Redmire, passing along the lower part of the dale, through market towns and small villages, woodland and farmland. Look out for Finghall station, which was one of the idyllic locations used in the classic BBC TV adaptation of James Herriot's 'All Creatures Great and Small'.

After the chance to explore the thriving market town on Hawes and enjoy a spot of lunch, we'll continue to the Wensleydale Creamery for a fascinating insight into the 1000-year history of Yorkshire Wensleydale. Watch as expert cheesemakers turn eight pints of milk into 500g of traditional cheese in approximately 40 minutes.

Day Four  :

Coach trip to Harrogate and home

We begin our journey home after breakfast this morning, stopping en route in Harrogate. Discover the graceful architecture, colourful gardens shops and tea rooms of this vibrant Yorkshire town. After the chance to have lunch, we'll restart our journey home, arriving at your original pick-up point by mid-to-late evening.
