Itinerary

Day One

Leaving the local area in the early morning we'll head north, stopping for lunch on the way to our weekend hotel.

Day Two

Today we'll visit the beautiful city of Edinburgh. During the afternoon we'll head to Ocean Terminal - Edinburgh's exciting new shopping and leisure complex - to visit The Royal Yacht Britannia.

Rooms on view aboard Britannia range from the Queen's bedroom and the Veranda Room, where The Queen used to enjoy breakfast, to the engine room, the galley and the officers' ward room. Your visit is sure to provide a unique insight into the history of this very special ship.

In the early evening we'll head to the esplanade of Edinburgh Castle for the Military Tattoo - the highlight of our visit - for a fantastic evening of music and colour, pomp and pageantry, which ends with the spectacle of the lone piper patrolling the battlements, silhouetted against the night sky. We'll leave Edinburgh around 10.00pm, arriving back at the hotel for a good night's sleep.

Day Three

After breakfast we'll head to Gretna Green - a favoured wedding venue for eloping couples since 1745! Weddings still take place every day at The Old Blacksmith's Shop. The complex, also houses an exhibition, a sculpture garden
and a few shops.

We'll also stop at the Gretna Gateway Outlet Village, where all the stores offer up to 50 per cent off their normal high street prices. In the afternoon we'll head home, returning to your local area by mid evening.
Further Information

Evening meals

You may wish to pre-book an evening meal at the hotel on the first night of your stay for a supplement. This represents excellent value for money and is a very popular option with our clients.

Ticket upgrades

You may like to upgrade your seat for the Tattoo. The seats are located in stands in a U shape around the castle esplanade. The more expensive the seats the further away they are from the open part of the U, which is where the acts emerge onto the esplanade.

Access to the Tattoo

There is a short but steeply inclined walk of 80 metres up Castle Hill, the old cobbled approach to the Esplanade. There is then a further 60-metre walk on average, followed by steps up to the spectator stands where generally, the seating is quite steeply tiered. You will have plenty of time to make your way to and from the Esplanade and will be able to go at your own pace. Wheelchairs can be sited at ground level under the North stand at all performances and disabled toilets are available on the Esplanade.

Coach seating arrangements

Your seats on the main coach will be allocated for you in advance, taking into consideration any special requests wherever possible. Your Tour Manager or driver will advise you where to sit as you board the coach. This will be your seat for the duration of the tour. (Seats are not allocated on any connecting services to and from the main coach.)

Joining your holiday

Your final travel documents, including the exact time and place of departure, will be sent to you approximately 10 days prior to departure, providing all payments have been made. We are unable to give exact departure times before this.

Meal arrangements

Where meals are not included, your Tour Manager will ensure there are suitable stops made for you to purchase and enjoy lunch and/or dinner each day.

Special requirements

If you have notified us of any special requirements, please check that they have been noted and acknowledged. This is especially important with any dietary needs you may have.

Disabled access

The majority of our tours involve a certain amount of walking, including a short walk from the coach stop to the town, attraction or venue you're visiting. If you are bringing a wheelchair, please let us know at the time of booking so that appropriate arrangements can be made.

Triple rooms

The majority of these consist of a double bed and an extra bed that is often only suitable for children. If this is a concern, you may wish to consider booking more than one room for your group.
