2024 Cosy Break in Torquay

4 - Day Tour

The evenings are finally drawing out and after the long winter months, what better pick-me-up than to plan a weekend away? And the English Riviera must be one of the loveliest places to visit at any time of the year. Noted for its mild climate, Torquay enjoys higher than average UK temperatures.

It's even warm enough for palm trees to flourish all year round. The Torbay Palm has become the symbol of the English Riviera and has thrived in the area since it was brought over from New Zealand in 1820

DAY 2 - Enjoy Torquay

Visit Torquay on the magnificent 'English Riviera' with its palm-lined seafront and russet-red cliffs - perfect for a winter promenade.  There is a market every Saturday (Union Street), a good smattering of cafes and restaurants as well as the Torquay Museum (open Saturday 10.00 - 16.00), full of local history and artefacts with a gallery dedicated to Agatha Christie, the 'Queen of Crime' born in Torquay in 1890

DAY 3 - Plymouth

Full English breakfast this morning before boarding the coach for your included excursion to Plymouth, Devon's fabulous port city. It's known for its maritime heritage and historic Barbican district with narrow, cobbled streets. Sutton Harbour is home to the National Marine Aquarium, where sharks and rays glide in a deep tank. (Admission not included) Also in the harbour are several marinas and a fish market, the Plymouth Fisheries. The Mayflower Steps are where the Pilgrim Fathers set sail for the New World in 1620. Return to the hotel by 16.00 for tea/coffee & biscuits followed by a general knowledge quiz.  After dinner, there will be entertainment.

DAY 4 - After breakfast, it's time to return homewards breaking the journey at a suitable stop for refreshments. Arrive back at your local joining points this evening
